Wilson National is the first Queenland based home loan lender to become carbon neutral. That means everything Wilson National do and the home loans Wilson National offer are carbon neutral.
Wilson National Home Loans is certified NoCO2 by the Carbon Reduction Institute. Businesses certified as NoCO2 are carbon neutral and have accounted for their total operational emissions as well as the emissions embodied in the products that they sell and use.
All home loans offered by Wilson National are also carbon neutral which means that the emissions produced in creating each new home loan have been offset. By Wilson National becoming carbon neutral is the equivalent of taking 20.2 cars off the M1 motorway (Based on the average car doing 14,000km per year, with a fuel economy of 11.3 litres/100 kilometres).
Wilson National Communications Director Gordon Watson says, "This is a significant milestone for our emerging business. Becoming carbon neutral means our staff and our customers can have an extra spring in their step knowing that we are proactively reducing and offsetting our carbon emission output. It also means new customers have a reliable alternative when they are looking for a carbon neutral home loan."
Wilson National Managing Director Geoff Wilson says, "Becoming carbon neutral now means we have the jump on our competitors - by instituting a carbon reduction and offsetting program we will only have to slightly adjust our business when the government introduces a carbon trading system. And the best part of the program is it does not impact on the price of our home loans, we were listed by Your Mortgage Magazine's - Australia's Best Home Loans 2006 and in 2007 our home loans are just as competitive."
The primary objective of the Carbon Reduction Institute is to help business and individuals to reduce their carbon impact, by developing plans that assist in reducing and offsetting carbon emissions.
